He will wink before throwing them, kind of like how Mike Tyson/Mr. Dream winked before some of their punches in the NES version. If you punch him on the side he winks you will get a star punch. After his second knock down he will be doing a lot of winks and uppercuts, just keep punching him to get star punches to knock him out....
